Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri or Mountain Lake is a lesser-known lake in Ladakh in terms of popularity but equally beautiful to Pangong lake. Set aside at a distance of about 145 km from Leh, this lake is at a higher altitude of about 15,100 ft above sea level and is located in the Changthang area. Surrounded by the barren hills with the backdrop of beautiful snow-clad mountains, Tso Moriri offers mind-numbing beauty with its calm and sacred sanctity to the Ladakh ethnic. It lies in the district of Rupshu which is populated by a small population of Changspa who are nomadic Shepherds. Tso Moriri is blessed with the wide range of wildlife.
